On 23–24 September 2025, PERMANET took part in the Raw Materials Information System (RMIS) Workshop, held under the theme “Leveraging raw materials to strengthen EU competitiveness: from research to innovation – Channelling knowledge from European projects & research initiatives into the RMIS.”
The workshop, co-hosted by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), gathered key representatives from European institutions, industry, academia, and EU-funded projects. Over two days, participants shared insights on how raw materials research and innovation can contribute to Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, and green transition.
A central focus of the discussions was on improving the visibility and accessibility of project outcomes through the RMIS platform. By making research results and data more accessible, RMIS helps to bridge the gap between EU-funded projects and decision-makers, supporting evidence-based policies on critical, strategic, and advanced materials.
PERMANET contributed to the dialogue by showcasing how its work on rare earth magnets — from extraction and recycling to advanced manufacturing — can enrich the knowledge base and provide practical solutions to strengthen Europe’s autonomy in critical raw materials. The project underlined the importance of collaboration between research initiatives and policy frameworks to build a truly circular and resilient value chain for Rare Earth Elements.
By engaging in the RMIS Workshop, PERMANET reinforced its commitment to transparency, knowledge sharing, and innovation, ensuring that its results support not only scientific progress but also the EU’s strategic goals for sustainability and competitiveness.
