PERMANET is an ambitious and innovative initiative funded by the Horizon Europe program. Launched last October, the project aims to revolutionize the rare earth permanent magnet value chain, which plays a crucial role in the EU’s green and digital transition.
An Innovative Ecosystem to Tackle Rare Earth Challenges
Together with 32 partners across Europe, PERMANET is set to develop 13 technological innovations addressing key challenges such as sustainable mining, advanced recycling, and optimized magnet production. To support these innovations, three thematic hubs have been created, dedicated to extraction, recycling, and production. These hubs will not only serve as R&D centers but also as platforms for the development of shared skills and technologies.
Thanks to this unique network, PERMANET aims to strengthen Europe’s leadership in sustainable permanent magnet production, reducing dependency on external suppliers and promoting green-oriented solutions.
Erion Leading Communication Efforts
To engage a broad range of stakeholders, PERMANET will organize workshops, events, and awareness campaigns throughout its 40-month duration. Erion is leading these activities as the project’s communication coordinator.
One of Erion’s first contributions has been developing the project’s visual identity. The PERMANET logo encapsulates the project’s essence: a connected network of hubs, symbolizing the value of collaboration across the entire supply chain. The design is inspired by the famous Geomag game, making an immediate reference to magnets, while the color scheme reflects the materials used in rare earth technologies, emphasizing their connection to the project’s core mission.
A Promising Start: The Kick-Off Meeting in Madrid
The project officially took off on November 5-6, when all partners gathered in Madrid at the headquarters of the project coordinator, Técnicas Reunidas.Through two intense days the first operational activities were planned based on the outlined project goals.
This meeting marked the beginning of what promises to be a strategic and long-lasting collaboration.
PERMANET: Advancing a More Sustainable Future
With its integrated approach, PERMANET represents a concrete response to the global challenges of sustainability and energy transition. Thanks to the commitment of key players like Erion and the synergy between European partners, the project is set to write a new chapter in technology and sustainability.
🚀 Stay tuned as we shape the future of sustainable rare earth magnet production!
